CONTROL AND INTERCOM

Access control and Intercom systems are one aspect of your security system.

There are two types of access control: physical and logical.
Physical access control limits access to campuses, buildings, rooms and physical IT assets. Logical access control limits connections to computer networks, system files and data. Intercom devices enables communication between 2 or more different areas.

If your home or business requires varying levels of access for staff or members, CCTV Online Security can help.

Video capability

With the increasing use of video these days, many homes & office intercom systems incorporate a video capability.
This is particularly useful for door access elements of an intercom as it is possible to see the person asking for access. This improves the security as it is possible to only allow access to those people who are recognised.
How Does it Work?
There are various types of home intercom systems, each with different set-ups, power sources and features. However, the overall concept is the same, which is to allow a person speaking into a microphone or in front of a camera, to be heard and/or seen by another person in a different room or on a smart device.
Home Intercom Components
A home intercom system is made up of several components including a base station, which is the central control point of the home intercom system. This can be a physical device or a smart app accessible via a smart device and stored in the cloud. Other components include the intercom stations which contain a camera and microphone to allow for two-way communication. This is the part of the intercom that is usually placed outside your front door, gate or whenever you receive your visitors. Another intercom station may be placed inside your home so that you can communicate with any visitors and allow them access to your home, however some systems now allow you to do this from your smart device allowing for total remote management of your home intercom and visitors.
Home Intercom System Communication
To hear or see the visitor on the other side of the door, the intercom stations will transmit the voice and/or video image data via wires or wirelessly (over a wifi connection) via the base station, to the other receiving intercom station.
